We are thrilled to announce that Gioia Mia (Sweetheart), the debut feature by Margherita Spampinato, has been selected for the Cineasti del Presente Competition at the 77th Locarno Film Festival.

The project was recognised at the Milano Film Network – In Progress Workshop last November, where it received the Sub-Ti and Sub-Ti Access Award, supporting the creation of subtitles and accessible versions for audiences with sensory disabilities.

The film’s selection in such a prestigious competition highlights the vitality of contemporary Italian cinema and the talent of new voices like Spampinato. We are especially proud to have accompanied Gioia Mia on its journey and delighted to celebrate its success with the Cineasti del Presente Special Jury Prize Ciné+ at Locarno.
