The FAIR Project

About This Project

Sub-Ti Access is proud to have developed FAIR – Accessible Films in Residences, an innovative project that has already involved 38 care homes for the elderly across Italy.

Selected by the Italian Ministry of Culture and supported by PNRR funds, the project promotes access to cinema for older adults, who are often excluded from cultural life due to sensory disabilities or because they live in remote areas. Its goal is to restore the right of the elderly to take part in culture, both as spectators and as active participants in the community.

Through FAIR, residents in care homes can watch films made accessible with subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing and audio description for the blind and visually impaired, delivered via advanced digital technologies.

The films can be enjoyed on multiple devices – televisions, computers, tablets, and smartphones – effectively becoming new inclusive cultural products. Special attention is given to the development of simple and intuitive commands, ensuring ease of use even for those unfamiliar with digital technologies.

All content is designed with the specific needs of the ageing society in mind, a demographic that is constantly growing.
